New Rochelle is a city in Westchester County, New York.
The town was settled by refugee Huguenots in 1688 who were fleeing persecution in France . Many of the settlers were from the city of La Rochelle, France, thereby helping to influence the choice of the name of “New Rochelle.”
In 2007, the New Rochelle had a population of over 73,000, making it the 7th largest in the state of New York.
